It’s not intuitive that the effect of a poll is to create votes in conformance with the poll. If a surprise poll came out and it made me think my side was losing, it would motivate me to vote.

@George-K is smart and proves it yet again. Alot of it sounds like, "I am going to go after people who dont like me" Why not "crack down on government workers who collude with the leftright-wing media to create false narratives" for example? (Though I actually dont agree with term limits unless the value is quite high, like 20 years or so)

@taiwan_girl said in Demographics of the 2024 voters: For me, it seems that the conclusion is that the majority of the people voted for the "less extreme" party. Most people tend to be in the center. Obviously, you are among those who hate democracy. (/sarcasm)

@Copper said in The Bogeyman: Cut the growth of government spending to reduce inflation Just wondering where you would like to see inflation at. 0%? The 2% target from the Central Bank? Deflation? Right now in the US, it is trending down at 2.4(?)%

This particular case may have a lot to do with it. The rehabilitation aspect is nonsense. There are things you simply cannot come back from.

You know, Biden did not survive in Washington as long as he did, and reach the heights that he did, without political chops. I'm starting to believe more and more that he knew Kamala-lama-ding-dong was a ticking time bomb and unable to wage a successful national campaign. By naming her so soon after the coup, ol' Fuck-up Joe gave Obama and his faction a royal screwing without benefit of lube. Obama never got a chance to shoehorn his preferred candidate into the nomination. And then, just to ladle a little icing on the cake, Biden made a few decent gaffes or just weird statements, guaranteed to tie her to him. Not saying all the goofs were planned, probably just a couple. Maybe Biden and Dr. Jill get a chuckle or too, as they walk out of the Whitehouse door for the last time.

@LuFins-Dad said in What will Biden say tomorrow?: No attempts at unifying or healing the divide. Well, yeah. Of course not. That's a big part of why they lost. Not that the Orange Man will deliver that. But you can't keep going around demonizing the unwashed, then cry about losing an election because the unwashed didn't vote for your side.

@Jolly said in Harvard classes canceled today.: I'd start looking at Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Ohio State Community College, etc ... Or even better, find Marines receiving an honorable discharge.

Being a lame duck might actually be a strength for Donald. He doesn’t have to be worried about reelection. Plus the unusually broad coalition gives him a mandate to make broad and sweeping changes. He can likely push through some of the reforms that everyone can ultimately see needs to be made.

I wonder if they’re still marketable? They could have picked up pathogens in the ‘wild’ that would confound any testing they’re used for.

I remember some irony. One of the professors over there, during the first TDS pandemic of 2016 to 2020, was on record that if he worked with anybody who supported Trump, he would quietly attempt to professionally marginalize them as much as possible. This raised no eyebrows, as it is a known thing that people with his mind virus would do. The Trump retribution against wrong-thinkers, on the other hand, is paranoia about extremely fanciful scenarios. This is the difference between the children and the adults in the room. Knowledge and acceptance of actual reality, vs paranoia about fanciful scenarios that would, even in the worst case, merely match what the other side has always lived with.

I think there are several big city mayors that might not find some new immigration rules refreshing.

A Jan 6 lawyer says, I’ve been told for three years in DC courtrooms that using the word “fight” in political commentary is a call for revolution and incitement of violence. VP’s don’t have immunity. Someone might need to investigate the VP’s concession speech. Harris used the word at least a dozen times. Lock her up.

I was hoping this would be a story about the economic effects of deporting a bunch of low paid illegal workers.
